Why not a template builder
Drag-and-drop builders are genuinely fine for some businesses, and if that is the right answer for you I will say so. The problems show up later: page weight that hurts your search position, a design that fights you the moment you need something unusual, and a monthly fee that never ends.
A custom build costs more at the start and less over time, and it does what you need rather than what the template anticipated.
Search is built in, not sold separately
Plenty of agencies build the site, then sell you SEO afterwards to fix what they left out. The technical groundwork is part of building it properly, so it is included.
What I will not do is promise you a ranking. A new site on a new domain competes with businesses that have been there for years. The build makes you eligible. Reviews, a Google Business Profile and consistent content do the rest, and I will tell you exactly what to do on that front at handover.

How much does a small business website cost?
It starts around £900 and depends on how many pages you need and whether it has to do anything beyond inform: bookings, payments, logins. You get an exact figure in writing before starting.
Do you use WordPress?
Only if there is a good reason to. WordPress is a reasonable choice when you need to edit content constantly. For most small business sites it adds hosting cost, update chores and security exposure you do not need. I recommend whichever suits the job rather than whichever is quickest for me.
Will my site show up on Google?
The technical fundamentals are built in as standard: proper titles and descriptions, structured data, a sitemap, clean URLs and fast load times. That makes you eligible to rank. Actually ranking also needs a Google Business Profile, reviews and time, and I will be straight with you about that rather than implying a new site alone does it.
Can I edit the site myself afterwards?
Yes, if you want that. Say so at the scope stage and I will build in an editing setup that suits your comfort level. If you would rather send me changes, that works too.
