A newer regulated sector, with fewer products built for it
Supported accommodation for 16 and 17 year olds moved into Ofsted registration relatively recently, and the software market has not caught up. Most providers are running on tools designed either for children's homes, which assume regulated care, or for housing, which assumes no support at all.
The distinction matters. You are providing support rather than care, and your records have to show that line clearly. A system that logs everything as care delivery misrepresents your service in exactly the place an inspector is looking.
What the records have to show
That each young person has a support plan matched to their needs, that risks are assessed and reviewed, that staff are properly vetted and trained, and that the accommodation itself is safe and maintained. Those are four different evidence trails, and keeping them in four different places is what makes a registration visit hard.
What gets built
The parts that matter for this kind of service
Support plans and reviews
Plans built around independence outcomes, with review dates that chase themselves rather than being remembered.
Risk assessment and review
Living risk assessments with a visible history, so you can show how a risk was managed over time, not just where it stands now.
Staff vetting and training
DBS, right to work, references and training tracked with expiry reminders long before anything lapses.
Incidents and concerns
Incidents, safeguarding concerns and notifications with actions and outcomes attached to each one.
Accommodation checks
Health and safety, maintenance and fire checks logged per property, with what is overdue visible at a glance.
Quality standards evidence
Records mapped to the standards you are measured against, exportable as a single pack.
Built to the standards you are judged against
I am an independent developer. I am not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of any regulator named here.
Questions
Questions from supported accommodation providers
We are registering for the first time. Can you help?
Yes. Building the system while you register is usually easier than retrofitting one later, because the evidence starts accumulating in the right shape from day one rather than being migrated out of spreadsheets afterwards.
Is this different from children's home software?
Related but not identical. The regulator is the same and much of the staff and property evidence overlaps, but support planning is not care planning and the records need to reflect that. See the children's homes page for the comparison.
How long does a build take?
Typically several weeks, delivered in stages so the parts you need first are working while the rest is still being built.

Every service is shaped slightly differently. Describe yours and I will tell you honestly what is worth building and what is not.
